Leads against slams by linda j green

Are you bored again when the opponents get to slams? No ways!

Let us listen to the bidding and try to analyze the best opening lead.
We have certain guidelines depending whether it is a suit contract verses a no trump contract.

Question 1

  Your Hand
 8 5 4
 K 8 6 4 3
 10 8 5
 7 4

Q: 1 - As South what suit do you lead?
SouthWestNorthEast

 Your choice:
A: 8 - There is a known guideline at the 6-level in a No Trump contract. We lead PASSIVE, from what we do not have! Leading a top card from no honor is the way to go, and a major is better than a minor as they did not look for a 4-card major. Declarer has to look for extra tricks. Do not assist on the opening lead.

* Forcing once you accept an invitation.

 Your choice:
A: 4 - Listen to the bidding. Declarer is showing a 6-card suit. Timing is everything. Before they promote the club suit and you control the suit, lead AGRESSIVELY and hope partner has the Queen of hearts. When they dislodge the Ace of clubs, you can cash a heart trick.

* Quantitative, asks partner if a maximum 17 HCP to bid 6NT.
When there is no suit agreement there is no Blackwood.

 Your choice:
A: 10 - When no suit is bid we lead passive again. Lead your shortest major hoping to find partner with length.

Remember: Against a 6NT contract we lead from what we do not have, passive!
