Opening leads against suit contracts by linda j green

When we make an opening lead against a suit contract, we must listen to the bidding to give us an idea as to what to lead.

One cannot be complacent at all, no matter how bored we are when holding uninteresting hands, with virtually no high card points.

 Your choice:
A: 2. Before declarer sets up the spade suit one needs a fast trick or two in the diamond suit.
Who says you must not lead away from a king? Wrong, it depends on the bidding sequence! Often we must be attacking, when discards are a threat. But never lead away from an Ace in a suit contract on an opening lead!

 Your choice:
A: 2. When the opponents settle in a 3rd suit, and you have length in one or both of the other suits, a trump lead is mandatory, to prevent the declarer from cross ruffing all the suits. At every opportunity partner must follow your defense. Your partner knows by counting the points that you do not have that many points either. Any trump would be acceptable on this hand.
