"Lost and Found Day" by Marti Ronemus

"I LOST my train of thought."
"I LOST my mind."
"I FOUND a Diamond in with my Hearts and LOST another partner."

Yet another observance that can be twisted for our use...

Let's see how many bids that work you can FIND.

Q: 1 - South:
SouthWestNorthEast
---1
?

 Your choice:
A: 1: Yes, yes, yes. We only have four Spades, and for an overcall we need five. BUT!! We have three juicy honors, we're not vulnerable (this helps if you need justification) and if we don't win the auction Pard will know what to lead. Plus... our Heart holding suggests that Pard may well be short.

Q: 3 - South:
SouthWestNorthEast
-1PassPass
?

 Your choice:
A: 2: Indeed, we're going to "FIND" another Diamond by tucking a Heart in with our Diamonds, and bid at the two-level. Why? We want to eat bidding space. There's something wrong with this picture. Either Pard's got a nice hand but couldn't double or overcall, or West's got a monster. Either way, we want to use up some bidding space. We know East doesn't have 6 points, so let's add some pizzazz to the auction.

Q: 4 - South?
SouthWestNorthEast
---1
?

 Your choice:
A: Pass: We can't seem to FIND a bid for this. We can't double -- wrong shape. We can't overcall, even stretching, our suits aren't good enough. Last question we mentioned that sometimes the best hand at the table has to pass. This is a good example. Rats.

Let's see now if we can FIND the right line of play.

Q: 5 - South:

 Your choice:
A: Double: Same hand, different bidding sequence. When we enter the auction now, Pard will know we had the wrong shape before and are now showing four Hearts and Diamonds. Also we've got to have an opening-ish hand to FIND this bid.
