 "Got Earworms?" by Marti Ronemus

Can't get that tune out of your head? It's driving you a little nuts? We call them earworms, and they are universal on planet Earth, although different in each culture. Here in the U.S. and Britain, we're trapped by sing-able, upbeat, generic pop tunes. Lady Gaga tunes are especially guilty.

Are we helpless? Is there any way out? Yes! We offer three tips. First, surprisingly, listen to the tune all the way through. Immerse yourself. Second, find a musical antidote. We suggest a rousing James Brown tune... the syncopated rhythm is lethal to worms. Finally, relax. Eventually the worms wear themselves out and we're free again.

In bridge, we've got our earworms, too. "Do the Math." "Return Your Partner's Lead." You know all those songs, right?

Let's put some to work.

 Your choice:
A: 1: No question with this one either, right? Overcalls at the one level only require 7-plus-ish points. We like the position of our K also. We'll be very surprised if we don't get a Heart lead. They're singing our song.

A: Double: This is our friend, the Big Hand Double. Overcalls are 7-17ish pts., and we've got 19 with distribution. Pard will hear the Takeout Double song, and he'll know the new tune with our rebid. It will take us two bids to show this hand.
