"When is TOO MUCH Just Right?" Resp. to Minors by Marti Ronemus

February only has 28 days because it's so wretched and we can't wait to be done with it. In our ongoing quest to make your life better, we bring you two inspired versions of Hot Chocolate, guaranteed to make you wish February would last forever.
First, how about Salted Dark Hot Chocolate? An Oreo crumb-crusted rim, then dark chocolate whipped cream, chocolate shavings, all topped with caramel drizzle and finishing salt.
Next, we offer Red Velvet Hot Chocolate: Hot chocolate with strawberries, marshmallows and Cadbury chocolate candy dropped in (yes, you read that right!), and the whole mess topped with a Red Velvet cupcake floating on the surface.

I know, I know. You're speechless and drooling, right? Well, we better refocus and turn our attention to our bridge quiz. Maybe we can burn enough calories thinking to earn one of those treats.

 6 5 4
 K Q 9 8 7

Q: 1 - South:
SouthWestNorthEast
--1Pass
?

 Your choice:
A: 1 No-trump: As much as we'd like to tell Pard about our Clubs, we can't do it. We need 10-plus pts to name a new suit at the two-level. We're denying holding a four-card major. Our bid is NOT forcing because we've limited our hand.

 6 5 4
 K Q 9 8 7

Q: 2 - South:
SouthWestNorthEast
--1Pass
?

 Your choice:
A: 2: This is the same hand we just had, but this time, Pard opened 1. We don't really want to play this hand in No-trump, so we're delighted to raise Pard. We are limiting our hand, and denying majors.

 Q 9 8 7

Q: 3 - South:
SouthWestNorthEast
--1Pass
?

 Your choice:
A: Pass: We don't care WHAT Pard bids, we are passing. We hate that word, but there's no justification to raising Pard or doing anything else. You'll never earn your Hot Chocolate if you bid with hands like this.

 J 2
 Q 9 8

Q: 4 - South:
SouthWestNorthEast
--1Pass
?

 Your choice:
A: 1: We have game-going values and need to make a forcing bid. We're going to bid a major, but which one? We bid our four-card suits UP THE LINE, regardless of the quality of the suit. Don't worry about missing the Spade suit. If Pard has them, he'll bid them. If we were to bid Spades, we would be denying Hearts.

 A Q 9 8 7

Q: 5 - South:
SouthWestNorthEast
--1Pass
?

 Your choice:
A: 2: We've got an intermediate 10-12 pt hand. If we had a minimum, we would bid our Hearts, but because we've got more, we can bid our longest suit first, the Clubs.

And now, our hand.
