 Keycard Blackwood by Matthias Huberschwiller

This is the second quiz on the theme of slam bidding.

After you have confirmed that your side controls all the side-suits, you can bid Blackwood. This convention is used to check that you don't have two immediate losers (Aces).

There are five keycards: four Aces and the King of trumps. If you are missing two of them, it's over, a slam is not possible.

When bidding 4NT, when you have a fit, you are asking your partner how many of those keycards he has.

The answers are the following:
5 - 3 or 0 keys
5 - 4 or 1 keys
5 - 2 keys, and I don't have the trump Queen
5 - 2 keys, and I have the trump Queen

Good luck!

Q: 2 - What do you bid as South?
SouthWestNorthEast
1Pass1Pass
2Pass4 NTPass
?

 Your choice:
A: 5 - You have two keys: two Aces. When you are responding to Blackwood with two keys, you also need to tell your partner about the Queen of trumps.

You would bid 5 to show two keys without the Queen. Here, you need to bid 5 to show two keys and the Queen of trumps.
