"Winning at Jeopardy" by Marti Ronemus

First, five 30-minute shows are taped back-to-back, with only about 10 minutes in between to change clothes. That can be exhausting!! Next, shows can run months after they are taped, and whether you win or lose, you are sworn to secrecy about the outcome. In fact, if you win, you won't get paid until AFTER the show airs, and you could lose your winnings if you spill the beans. Finally, it's all about the buzzer. When Alex finishes the question, a light comes on. If you ring in before the light, you are locked out. Winner have actually written articles about the best way to hold the buzzer.

And there you have it. Now let's focus on winning at bridge. Remember to frame your answer in the form of a question.

 5 4

Q: 1 - South:

?

 Your choice:
A: 3: We are third seat. We could open 1 or 2, but that certainly isn't going to slow the opponents down much, is it? They'll step right over us! We want this contract in Diamonds. If the opponents are determined to take it from us, let 'em. We, opposite a passed Pard, have said everything we have to say.

Q: 5 - South:

?

**13-15 pts

 Your choice:
A: 4: Huh. Pard's promising a very nice second suit of at least five cards, and he darn right well better have the A-K for that bid! He eschewed all interest in No-trump, and with 10 black cards, we can't blame him. We sniff a slam here, and we can't ask for Aces without first or second round control of every suit in our hot little hand. This is the perfect time to tell Pard about our A. We are below game level, and Pard's on the spot now. And now, let's move on to Final Jeopardy with our hand.
