"So You Want to be a P.I.?" by Marti Ronemus

Bored with your job? Want a little glamour in your life? Read on the back of a matchbook about Private Eye school? Before enrolling, here is some information from a real life P.I.
"We have a lot of unsavory tasks, like dumpster-diving. Lots of clues in there, but we need face masks and Vicks to do it. We've had a jump in the need for our services thanks to on-line dating. Social media has made our jobs easier. We all have alter-egos and our subjects aren't reluctant to 'friend' us. My alter-ego is much more popular than I am."
The strangest call our informant ever had? "Some one wanted to hire me because they were convinced their TV was haunted."

And we as bridge players get some strange calls (aka "bids") too, don't we? Are you ready?

 Your choice:
A: 1 No-trump: Our problem is that no one has yet limited their hand. Let's keep it as low as we can. We sure wish we could support one of Pard's suits. With our Club stopper, this is really about the best we can do to show our minimum. Let Pard detect the right contract now that we've limited our hand.

A: Pass: As fast as we can, we are getting out of this misfit. We have 14-ish pts and Pard is rated with 10-12, but we have nothing but trouble ahead. We detect disaster.

And now, let's investigate our hand.
