 "Underwear Alert" by Marti Ronemus

Monday we warned you about the dangers of punching a shark in the nose. Today we need to alert you to yet more dangerous water-related animal behavior.

The Angus region of Scotland is a very popular place for skinny-dipping. Swimmers though have recently been shocked to find their undies gone from the waterside when they emerged. Where could it have gone?

The mystery was solved when gamekeeper Dave Clement climbed a tree to band a nest-full of Red Kite chicks. He found the baby birds all snuggled up in a bed made of soft, silky undies, including a pair of Armani panties, showing that the bird parents want only the best for their kids.

Yet another reason we advise you to stay out of the water. You're welcome.

And now, hopefully fully dressed, let's tackle some bidding questions. Today will be fairly easy. We're going to review overcalls.

Question 5

  Your Hand
 A J 9 4
 K J 6 5
 6 5
 A 8 5

Q: 5 - South:
SouthWestNorthEast
---1
?

 Your choice:
A: Pass: We have an opening hand of our own, but we can't overcall (the Spades are too few and too weak), can't double (no shortness in opponent's suit). We better just keep our swim suit on, and await further developments.

And after that restful little quiz, it's time for our hand.
