"St. Patrick's Day" by Marti Ronemus

I'm verybusy today and don't have a lot of time for bridge, folks, so let's get to it. I'm half-Irish, which means Sunday I will be ALL Irish, and it will be a busy day. It involves visiting many watering holes, enjoying Bailey's Irish Cream, elixir of Guinness and the wearin' o' the green. Oh, and putting on my "Kiss me, I'm Irish" pin.

A couple quick facts (you know I never let you down): St. Patrick lived from 385--461. AND!! He did NOT drive the snakes out of Ireland. There were never any to begin with.

Enough! If you want to know more, look it up in Wikipedia. C'mon, let's go. I have stuff to do!

Question 1

Q: 1 - South:

?

**Limit Raise, 10-12 and four-card support. Many would use this to show a WEAK hand with four-card support.

 Your choice:
A: 3: It's the nice Spade support that make this hand worth taking a bid. We've got a nine-card fit, Pard is marked with a NICE Spade suit, and no more than a singleton Heart. We have a little shape. Let's do it!

 Your choice:
A: Pass: Compare to last hand. We've only got an eight-card fit, and Pard is marked with a Heart doubleton also. This hand is theirs. Let's see if we can set them.

 Your choice:
A: 4: NOW we're talkin'!! Pard is void in Hearts. We're void in Clubs. We've got a **TEN CARD** trump fit! What are we waiting for?

Question 4

Q: 4 - South:

 Your choice:
A: 2: Pard promised four Spades. He would have overcalled with five. We have a really pathetic hand, but it's worth a bid. We have the master suit, and that's another factor. If the opponents want the bid, they have to go to the three level.

Q: 5 - South:

?

 Your choice:
A: 3: We've got a sure trump fit, probably 9 cards. We've got 9-ish points. Bidding 2 would show a little extra because it's a free bid, but the extra trump inspires us.

And now let's get our hand out of the way so we can rest.
