Here I am, come and get me.

For the next four deals you are the third player - your partner has led against 3NT and you are trying to help him read the hand. Again, we start with a simple hand...
East-West reach 3NT quickly and partner leads the ♠6, which we assume is the time-honored fourth-highest of the… yes, you’ve got it. We (South) contribute the ♠J and West takes the ♠Q.
This is guileless play on the part of declarer – he is revealing all to North, who knows declarer has the ♠K as well. He would have been better off winning trick one with the ♠K, concealing the ♠Q. However, we are not in the business of giving bridge lessons to our opponents…
Declarer starts on his Diamonds, naturally enough, and we have to decide what to throw on the second round. Well, it’s very easy to pitch a low Club, whilst thinking of other things (a nice holiday, a new car, what’s for dinner, that sort of thing) but the focus here must be on helping partner.
The only way 3NT is going off is if the Spades run – and for that we probably have to be on lead to shoot a Spade through declarer. If partner is looking for our entry card we have to tell him where it is. The best discard is the ♣9 and then follow that with the ♥2. Partner would have to have a pea-sized brain to do anything other than lead a Club now, when on lead with the ♦A.
On the ♣3 switch declarer tries the ♣K in a vain attempt to get us to continue Clubs but how can that be right? No, despite the fact that partner’s ♣3 appears to say “I like Clubs” it may be the only one he’s got (it’s actually his highest Club, of course) but the obvious defence is to revert to Spades. That goes through declarer’s vulnerable holding and that’s thank-you very much. Two down.
